Summer Quarter Update...

Like all summers, this one seems to fly by....

June was kicked off with A LOT of crazy weather. Rain, rain and more torrential rains completely messed up our plans to get started on the horse barn so it was delayed until July. Father's day was spent in Wisconsin with the Lins side. We were able to attend St. Lukes Polka Sunday. The entire service is polka music and they have a festival following with a polka band (which Josiah loved), moon bouncers for the kids, ice cream and, of course, bingo.

Our dear Delaware friend, Sami, came for a week visit before her summer classes started up. I had to laugh when we greeted her at the airport as she was wearing a sweatshirt and jeans....it was 80 degrees in Iowa that day. Apparently, she was under the impression, and also warned from other Easterners, that it's cold in the Midwest. We had a great, but short, time. She was amazed at the Spam Museum in Austin, discovered frozen custard at Culvers (which we of course had to frequent more than once), rode Molly, swam and toured ISU, which turned out to be very educational..another great Iowa tourist destination. Josiah missed his friend as soon as we dropped her off at the airport.

Ryan's parents came to help out with the barn the last weekend in June but again, rained out. But they did manage to help finish fencing in our south pasture and assembling our surry from our wedding, so glad to have it together. Since we couldn't do much, we ended up relaxing and made a visit to Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines.
